Abstract

The study presented in this article brings the case report of the elderly patient, with type II Diabetes mélitus, living in the city of Pelotas-RS. The work was carried out by the multiprofessional team in Primary Care, in partnership with the family, in the treatment of forefoot amputation, due to complications during hospitalization due to other comorbidities associated with the underlying disease. The report shows the use and effectiveness of the Porous Regenerating Membrane (MEMBRACEL) as a proposal to improve the care provided, ensuring greater quality for health care. Emphasizing that the entire team worked together, scientifically guided, with the objective of treating the injury by adopting a holistic view of the person and his family. The use of the Membracel Regenerating Membrane reached expectations, when added to the planning and appropriate nursing techniques, clinical management and adequate nutritional therapy. In addition, the family's active and constant participation in the planning and execution of care was crucial to the clinical outcome achieved regarding the complete healing of the lesion. The work of the multiprofessional team made it possible to observe the need to carry out health actions together with the family, aiming to equip caregivers for the proper management of the dressing, as well as encouraging the user in relation to his self-care, and resuming daily activities, rescuing autonomy, limited by the complexity of the injury.
