Abstract

Objective: To describe and evaluate the evolution of the healing process of a diabetic foot pressure ulcer using low-intensity therapy through the photobiomodulation process. Method: This is an experience report to be carried out during the curricular internship from March to May 2023, in a home in the municipality of Bom Despacho, Minas Gerais. The data was collected using written records, and
the evolution of the condition through measurement with a millimeter paper ruler, as well as photographic records. The instrument used in the research will be a DMC brand Gallium Arsenide Laser (AlGaAs), model Therapy EC wireless, with a wavelength of 660nm ± 10 nm, and a power of 100 mW, protective goggles, one for
the patient and the other for the applicator, and latex gloves. Results: The results show complete closure of the edges of the lesion, with epithelialized, pink and
hydrated tissue after ten sessions of low-intensity therapy. Studies have shown the efficacy of using low-intensity laser in the healing of pressure ulcers in diabetic feet;
however, there are divergences and a lack of standardization in its applicability. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the efficacy of using laser therapy with low-
-intensity parameters, resulting in complete healing of pressure ulcers, but there is a need for more controlled studies with higher requirements. Although the protocol
used in this study was different, the choice of the dose of low-intensity therapy showed excellent results.
