Microbiological profile of cultures of patients hospitalized in icus of a hospital unit reference in infectocontagious diseases

Introduction: The profile of infections that occur in a hospital environment is different from those acquired in the community, especially with regard to frequency, site of infection and type of isolated microorganism. Objective: To describe the profile of prevalence and sensitivity to antimicrobials of positive and negative Gran bacteria found in cultures of blood, urine and catarrhal secretion of patients admitted to a hospital unit specializing in the care of patients with infectious diseases FROM Manaus, Amazonas. Methodology: This is a retrospective study, with a 12-month time cut, in the year 2020, of a descriptive nature with a quantitative approach. Results: 85 infections related to health care were reported in 48 patients, 58% of whom were inpatients in the ICU and 42% in the ICU for pediatric patients, in which (75%) were female and 45% were immunosuppressed patients. due to HIV / AIDS the most prevalent microorganism was Escherichia coli resistant to extended spectrum betalactamics-ESBL (38%). Conclusion: Considering the high rates and the severity of these infections, it is relevant to implement prevention strategies and efforts aimed at improving the quality of care.
